Natalie Massenet x BoF

FashAddict is over-estatic to announce that we will be attending Business of Fashion’s Natalie Massenet talk this week, held at Net-a-Porter’s Westfield offices.  Hosted by Imran Ahmed, founder and editor of BoF, the talk will allow the audience to ask Massenet questions about her life, career and her meteoric rise to success and wealth.

Earlier this year it was revealed that Massenet sold her stake in the online retail site for an estimated £350 million to the wiss luxury group, Richemont SA. Besides from the talk, we can’t wait for the amazing cityscape views from Net-a-Porter’s head offices.

See you soon Natalie!!

Net-A-Porter Sold

Fashion Pioneer Natalie Massenet the creator of Net-A-Porter sold her legacy to Swiss luxury brands group Richemont in a deal valued at £350 million.

The site started up because Natalie wanted to buy some Chloe jeans but couldn’t find a site that catered to her needs, so she does what every entrepreneur does and that is to do it yourself, the rest as they say is history and now she’s £50 million richer for it.

The glossy magazine layout of the website draws in 2 million customers every month and with prices ranging from £30 T-shirts to £5,000 clutch bags, I’ll have to settle for looking at the pretty pictures.

Fashion for Relief at LFW

After a successful charity catwalk based in New York Naomi crossed the pond to our neck of the woods and held a Fashion for Relief catwalk show right here in London during fashion week.

Many celebs stomped the catwalk in aid of the victims of the terrible earthquake that hit Haiti earlier this year. The funds raised go towards the desperate women, babies and young children who have been left homeless, medically untreated and in need of a helping hand.

Vivienne Westwood joined forces with Naomi and created a t-shirt, which highlights the horrific statistics that the country is left in.

There was music from the heavenly voice of Beverly Knight and other musicians such as Alexandra Burke, former Spice Girl Geri Haliwell and Nicola Roberts from girl band Girls Aloud walked down the catwalk in stunning dresses but none so stunning as the legendary Dame Shirley Bassey who was shining from head to toe.

The heavily pregnant Denise Van Outen was applauded as she went down the catwalk in a Jasmine di Milo gown, which made her look like an angel in flight.

Naomi has done great work in raising awareness on this issue that will take years to put right and she has a lot to say on the matter.

“I am deeply saddened by the recent tragedy in Haiti. So many have been killed and severely affected by the earthquake – women and children in particular are most vulnerable in disasters,” the Daily Star quoted her as saying.

“Fashion is universal, personal and touches everyone,” she said.

The model is also teaming up with bosses of luxury carmaker Lotus, who have designed eight special edition vehicles named Naomi for Haiti.

Fashion for Relief has teamed up with Net-A-Porter, to host exclusive sales of the designer clothes modelled on the catwalk. The clothes will be available for purchase from 15th March on www.net-a-porter.com.

Vivienne Westwood has designed a limited edition T-shirt for Fashion for Relief, which will be sold exclusively at www.viviennewestwood.com and in the Vivienne Westwood Conduit Street and World’s End stores.
