Natalie Massenet x BoF

FashAddict is over-estatic to announce that we will be attending Business of Fashion’s Natalie Massenet talk this week, held at Net-a-Porter’s Westfield offices.  Hosted by Imran Ahmed, founder and editor of BoF, the talk will allow the audience to ask Massenet questions about her life, career and her meteoric rise to success and wealth.

Earlier this year it was revealed that Massenet sold her stake in the online retail site for an estimated £350 million to the wiss luxury group, Richemont SA. Besides from the talk, we can’t wait for the amazing cityscape views from Net-a-Porter’s head offices.

See you soon Natalie!!

FashAddict’s obsession with Lady GaGa’s Birkins

Lady GaGa has yet again surprised fashionistas across the globe with another defaced Hermes Birkin bag. After scribbling all over her white leather bag with artist Terrence Koh, Gaga was photographed at London’s Heathrow airport with a black leather version covered in spikes and studs. As well as the bag, GaGa wore leather skinny fitted trousers and platform heels, awaiting to board a transatlantic flight to New York on a hot summer’s day.

We can only wonder what eccentric designer Jean-Paul Gaultier, who is leaving Hermes, would think of GaGa’s customisation, after all GaGa notably takes inspiration from his costume designs for a young Madonna. As for FashAddict, we can’t wait for what time will bring, maybe even a faux-blood covered Birkin a la GaGa’s VMA performance?

Riot/Rude Gyal’s Rave

First she created WAH magazine in 2005, then came WAH Nails last summer and now Sharmadean Reid, publisher/stylist/consultant/blogger, brings us Riot Rude the WAH Nails party.

WAH Nails originally began providing the most outrageously decorated nails in Dalston and has gone on to become a cult trend across the whole of London, even earning Sharmadean a feature in Vogue’s January 2010 ‘Bright Stars’ article. After creating such a buzz amongst the hippest girls in the city the salon was given its own space in Topshop’s Oxford Street flagship. Love, love, love!

From nails to nightclubs the event held at The Alibi in East London tomorrow night, Thursday 27th may 2010, is set to be a live mash up of hip hop, dancehall and disco. Judging by the eclectic inspirations of Sharmadean and the WAH girls, ‘hip hop, getting our nails done, comics, coloured gemstones, grimey clubs, Ralph Lauren, gold, LA, high high heels, riot grrls, 1993/1983/1953, whining and grinding, vintage American sportswear, Versace, punk, sneakers, pink and yellow, Moschino, Jeff Koons, London, bodycon, shiny stuff, girl power, and staying true’ the fashion on display should be even more entertaining than the music. Expect freebies, fanzines and tons of rude girl attitude. Go get your whine on grrls!

Riot/Rude at The Alibi, 8pm- 3am, 91 Kingsland High Rd, London, E8 2PB.

Isabella Blow Auction

Over 90 Alexander McQueen outfits, 50 Philip Treacy hats and shoes by Manolo Blahnik belonging to the late fashion icon Isabella Blow are to be auctioned by Christie’s in September this year. The Tatler fashion editor committed suicide in late 2007 and was immortalised for her flamboyant millinery and her eye for discovering Alexander McQueen and Sophie Dahl.

“What we have is unique — it shows that McQueen really deserves his place in fashion history and that Isabella was there before anyone else, she saw what was good so far ahead of the game,” said Patricia Frost, director of fashion and textiles at Christie’s in London.

The auction will be held by the auction house in London, South Kensington, on 15 September 2010 at 10:30

Blake on the Beach

22-year-old Blake Lively, aka Serena van der Woodsen, sports the wet look on the June edition of American Vogue, photographed by the notable Mario Testino. The blonde actress, whose enviable locks are soaked on the cover, has a rather unexpected accessory throughout the shoot, a surfboard. But not to worry, the assisting article, written by Hamish Bowles (European editor-at-large) focuses on his and Blake’s adventures into learning how to surf.

Although she may seem surprisingly young to be a Vogue cover star, this isn’t the first time. A 21-year-old miss Lively graced the February 2009 issue looking more old school Hollywood glamour than California beach babe. Either way she looks amazing on both og the covers.

Both covers look very Vogue-y in that high budget kind of way, a far cry from the Rolling Stones cover featuring Leighton Meester and Blake photographed by the infamous Terry Richardson.
