Summer is always the season of body art, and judging by this season’s catwalk shows it’s a bigger trend than ever for 2010. When Chanel and Selfridges had epic waiting lists for the brands transferrable tattoos, sported by the models in the S/S10 show, it was official that wash-off body art was now definitely for grown-ups.
When tattoos are used like make-up they can become a versatile new way to accessorize and different designs can create totally different looks. The dilemma is now less whether to brave it or fake it, more whose style tribe you want to pledge allegiance too. An It-Bag is no longer enough, the hottest way to wear your brand of choice is branded on your skin. We are torn between two looks. Number one; Chanel’s delicious girly look and their delicate chain and trinket designs perfect with the Gorgeous Florence lace top from the Mags & Pye collection.
Or number two; getting creative ourselves and drawing on our own thick black markings and teaming them with the studded Andrea sleeveless biker from the Va Vizuri collection to nail the warrior girl look a la Jean Paul Gaultier.
Luckily that’s the beauty of this trend; with the tattoos being wash-off we can be a different girl every day. Which ever look you decide on this summer, show some ink.
