The British Fashion Council came up with the NEWGEN scheme in 1993, and it has been nurturing amazing emerging designer talent ever since. Alexander McQueen, Matthew Williamson and Julien Macdonald have all been supported by NEWGEN, with money awarded towards their show costs, sponsored exhibition space, usage of the BFC Catwalk tent, sales and marketing support, business advice and mentoring…phew! It’s no wonder that every up-and-coming designer wants to get on this launch pad!
This year, a whole host of young UK-based designers piled on to the Topshop supported launch pad, including Danielle Scutt, Meadham Kirchhoff and Michael van der Ham (pictured below). The exhibition was an amazing display of the fresh talent LFW has to offer!
