Trend Tip: All That Glitters

They say London Fashion Week is an event full of glitz and glamour, but this particular LFW has definitely surpassed itself on the glitz front! Every fashionista worth her salt glammed it up this week in some sort of sequined garment. Whether it’s a sparkly celebration of 25 years of British Fashion, a ritzy two fingers up to the recession, or a nod to the late, great MJ we couldn’t say… but the trend looks set to stay!

London Fashion Week Topshop Party

Topshop’s London Fashion Week Party at the Ivy saw guests Eva Herzigova, Erin O’Connor and Estelle all rocking black sequins. Sadly, Sir Philip Green declined to join in with the trend!

Vogue Party

Over at the Vogue Dinner at Le Caprice, sequins came in a more colourful spectrum. British Vogue editor Alexandra Shulman was the hostess with the most-ess in a beautiful peacock hued Clements Ribeiro dress. Russian model Natalia Vodianova, chose a jacket in gorgeous gold.

Pixie Geldof

Pixie Geldof showed us a punkier take on the trend, also at the Vogue party, with a little denim waistcoat embellished with diamantes. Okay, so they’re not sequins (tsk tsk Pixie!) but those hundreds of sparklers still make her look like a shiny disco ball – and that’s what you’re aiming for with this look!

Roksana Ilinic

But sequins weren’t only at the fashion parties and on the front rows, they could be seen on the catwalk too. We loved Roksanda Ilincic’s ready to wear show at LFW, for her very modern versions of the sequined frock. Shimmering squares were applied like mineral formations over pale silk shifts, the harsh blocking giving each piece a futuristic feel.

Va Vizuri Sequins

Not ones to be left behind in the style stakes, here at FashAddict we’re also glamming it up for LFW. We’re working the sequined trend with our silver and black Va Vizuri cropped jacket. It’s available now from our Mags and Pye boutique and the Laden Showrooms (both on Brick Lane, East London).
