Hi Girls The Big Swish is back in London!

What’s swishing? Some of you may ask….

Well you swap any designer clothes you currently own with like-minded fashionistas.

You bring nice, clean, presentable clothes that are lurking unloved in your wardrobe, and other girls fall in love with them and give them a good home. You might bring one sweater and take two pairs of shoes, or hang a party frock on the ‘Swishing Rail’ and take a pair of skinny jeans and feather boa.

There’s a swishing party happening right here in London on Saturday 10th July @ Platform Bar, 55-58 Tooley Street, London Bridge .

Clothes drop off: 12.00 – 13:30

Riot/Rude Gyal’s Rave

First she created WAH magazine in 2005, then came WAH Nails last summer and now Sharmadean Reid, publisher/stylist/consultant/blogger, brings us Riot Rude the WAH Nails party.

WAH Nails originally began providing the most outrageously decorated nails in Dalston and has gone on to become a cult trend across the whole of London, even earning Sharmadean a feature in Vogue’s January 2010 ‘Bright Stars’ article. After creating such a buzz amongst the hippest girls in the city the salon was given its own space in Topshop’s Oxford Street flagship. Love, love, love!

From nails to nightclubs the event held at The Alibi in East London tomorrow night, Thursday 27th may 2010, is set to be a live mash up of hip hop, dancehall and disco. Judging by the eclectic inspirations of Sharmadean and the WAH girls, ‘hip hop, getting our nails done, comics, coloured gemstones, grimey clubs, Ralph Lauren, gold, LA, high high heels, riot grrls, 1993/1983/1953, whining and grinding, vintage American sportswear, Versace, punk, sneakers, pink and yellow, Moschino, Jeff Koons, London, bodycon, shiny stuff, girl power, and staying true’ the fashion on display should be even more entertaining than the music. Expect freebies, fanzines and tons of rude girl attitude. Go get your whine on grrls!

Riot/Rude at The Alibi, 8pm- 3am, 91 Kingsland High Rd, London, E8 2PB.

Chanel Cruise in St. Tropez: More Nudes and Pastels!

As usual, Chanel’s cruise fashion show was as spectacular as the last one, the event took place in the sunny St. Tropez, where the models arrived by boat and worked the runway bare foot (with many ankle bracelets) and in flats, kitten heels and moccasins, as for the male models (there was two of them, Baptiste naturally being one of them), they worked the runway in flip-flops, Chanel flip-flops!

The clothes were made of pastel floral prints and nude and brown hues and hair and make-up was bohemian-ly tussled.  Maxi-dresses and bikinis were very prominent, making  up most of the collection. Bianca Jagger assisted a male model on a motorbike to end the show, however disaster struck and the bike broke down, making for an awkward scene, one of which was later forgotten by the sight of designer extraordinaire, Karl Largerfeld in a purple outfit.

Of course, a fashion show would not be a fashion show without a star-studded audience. American Vogue editor-at-large, Andre Leon Talley attracted a swarm of paparazzi when he turned up in a green cape, which horribly clashed with the red decor. Seriously Andre, it’s Chanel not Christmas.

Le Rebellion du Gaga

Lady GaGa is no stranger to causing sensation and uproar within the fashion community, so it comes as no surprise that after Hermes-loving-haters criticised her for defacing her white leather Birkin she once again took to her permanent marker.

However, this isn’t the only time the pop star has rebelled, last week it was revealed that she refused to walk the red carpet at the Met ball, and would not listen to friends or Warner Music executive Lyor Cohen, who tried to coax her out of her dressing room.

Even Oprah, the co-chair of the event, was eventually sent into her dressing room to ask her to come out. She too, apparently was unable to convince Gaga to leave her dressing room. Eventually, Vito Schnabel was able to get the artist Terence Koh on the phone, who spoke with Gaga and eventually got her to agree to leave her dressing room.

It was also revealed that GaGa publicly disobeyed Anna Wintour at the met ball, “I’ll never forget when Anna Wintour called me to play at this event, she called me and said, ‘I would like you to play at the Met gala, but I just want to make sure, because I’ve seen you perform before, that you won’t be swearing during the performance. So Anna, I will do my [bleep]-ing best” she said whilst she was performing.
