The most fashionable red carpet event of the year returned last night, as New York played host to The Costume Institute Gala 2010 celebrating the opening of The Metropolitan Museum’s new exhibition “American Woman: Fashioning a National Identity”. Patrick Robinson, creative director of Gap co-chaired the event with chatshow legend Oprah Winfrey and iconic editor in chief of American Vogue Anna Wintour.
We couldn’t wait to see what gowns the A-listers and designers alike would pull out the bag for this uber-stylish red carpet event and they certainly did not dissapoint – as expected the event was drenched in chanel and Blake Lively got the legs out as always in a flirty Marchesa Mini dress, but there were a few surprises, such as Alexa Chung opting away from the traditional gown – instead rocking the masculine look in 3.1 Phillip Lim. Which of these ladies do you think nailed it the most with their red carpet look?
