Street Style Sunday

This week we caught sight of some stylish ladies doing a last minute bit of christmas shopping! Hope they all had a wonderful christmas and so did all our readers!

Tinsel Tip Number Four – Get Gorgeous in Grey

Everyone’s talking about the snow and love it or hate it, the potential for a white Christmas is very exciting! But here at FashAddict we think the perfect winter colour for any girl is grey: so the 4th tip on our holiday guide is to invest in some grey tones, not only is it fabulous for you to look chic over the festive period but it looks great on everyone so grey makes for perfect presents.

It’s so in this season that you can find any accessory in metallic, so you can treat your friends and family as well to guarantee you all look gorgeous this Christmas and they definitely won’t be disappointed!

The perfect item for us to recommend which you are guaranteed to dazzle in this Christmas, is our Duke & Duchess “Aliaya” top. It’s comfy and cosy, but due to the gorgeous embellished statement shoulders it can take you from day to night perfectly, if you wear it with black skinny jeans and switch from flats to boots.

“Aliaya” is available from Topshop and also our Mags & Pye Boutique in Brick Lane, so pick one up for you or as a Christmas present for a friend. Can’t wait to see all our lovely fashionistas rocking the grey look this festive season!

Tinsel Tip number three – Have an organised christmas!

Whether its a new years resolution for you to keep a diary, have a wardrobe clearout or start writing to do lists we all tend to start the new year with the intention of sorting out the disorganised and messy areas of our lives! Who said being organised cant be fun and pretty though? These clothes hangers and cute keyrings are available from bombay duck and we are absolutely LOVING the new pretty range for personal organisation from filofax! You have no excuse for disorganisation when you own a filofax but they have often been known to be more classic and business like in style, so we are very excited to see this gorgeous new range to choose from.

The filofax comes in three different designs and at fashaddict we are paticularly excited by the snakeskin design!

It is christmas though and we must remember Christmas is the time of giving, luckily filofax have put together this incredible “filofax beauty giftbox” which contains everything needed for a girl on the go; not only a chic filofax but also a unique perfume pen atomiser, a compact mirror and a voucher for a pampering beauty treatment. This is the perfect gift for a high flying business woman, a busy working mum or just your most scatty friend who is is in need of organisation in her life! The gift boxes are available from!

Anarchy in the UK

Sunday 20th December, 2009 will go down in history as the day that the British public toppled the X Factor empire. Yes guys and girls, Rage Against the Machine ‘Killing in the Name of’ is Christmas number 1. A huge amount of the profit from single sales is being donated to Shelter, over 60K so far. Love it or hate it, this is truly a demonstration of the power of the British public (and facebook!), and we say power to the people! To those who raged, merry Christmas, you did it.

Tinsel Tip number two – Wrap up Warm!

Whether its last minute late night christmas shopping in this bitter cold, boxing day walks in the countryside or just trying to find some winter wear to give your sister or mum this christmas these classic winter warmies should be top of your shopping list.

The above coat is from our very own Duke & Duchess range and is available from Mags & Pye Boutique or from Topshop. The coat looks great with a pair of black knee high winter boots like these ones from Carvela and if you really want to look smart whilst keeping cosy in the snow, you could  invest in some classic leather gloves. We love these ones from Reiss with the embellished detail that give that extra winter sparkle!

Snowy Street Style Sunday

On a snowy day we decided to head to covent garden to see what the fashionable females of london were wearing whilst keeping cosy in the extreme weather conditions! Thanks for stopping girls and looking so fabulous! Looking forward to spotting more of you looking stylish and rocking the new trends in the new year! Merry Christmas street style icons!

FashAddict Tinsel Tip Number one – Christmas Clothes

Here at FashAddict we couldn’t be any more excited for christmas! However although we may have the christmas tunes blaring out, and the mulled wine warming on the stove, with all the things to organise for our website launch we know what its like to be busy around Christmas and end up leaving the all important things like gifts for the girls and a perfect outfit for the work christmas drinks to the last minute.

So we thought we would put together a holiday guide of tips and ideas to make those girly elements of christmas less of a hassle for all our readers! Starting out with the perfect party outfit… with the office christmas party, Christmas Eve, New Years Eve and a whole host of other festivities you need to be glammed up for we’ve put together a killer outfit!

Partner this sparkly dress from our Chandelier range (available in Topshop Oxford Circus and our Mags & Pye Boutique on Brick Lane) with these fabulous shoe boots from Kurt Geiger and you’ll be sure to look show-stopping! Will look fabulous with either bare legs or black tights and you could add some heavy gold bangles if you want even more sparkle… When it comes to your makeup we are loving this fabulous little set from benefit called “sexy starlet” which contains their classic bad gal lash mascara to create thick black lashes, an oil free alternative to foundation to give you the perfect complexion and the new “coralista” powder to sweep on your cheeks before you head out… why not get one for you and one for your best girl friend, sorts out your makeup in a flash for those last minute nights out and guarantee a very happy friend with this present!

A Dash of Southern Style

Thursday evening, in light of the festive season, Alabama’s finest designer, Billy Reid, held a holiday gathering in his Manhattan boutique. It was a great way to kick-start the weekend and enjoy some tasty hor’dourves, drinks and entertainment. With plenty of plaid button-ups, riding boots and corduroy blazers, his mens/women’s collections are certainly reflective of America’s Southern-bred luxury lifestyle, and a sure stop if you happen to be crossing the pond for a bit of stateside shopping. Happy Holidays from the Big Apple! x

Why Aye Man!

Cheryl Cole, Ant & Dec, the Big Brother voice-over man, Joe McElderry, spot the link? There’s something about the Geordie accent that propels people into the hearts of the nation. London has long been established as a melting pot of talent, but it seems Newcastle is putting up a fight for the title.

So do Geordies do it best? We rounded up some up-and-coming talent from the north east, and we have to take our (very stylish) hats off to em, they’re not half bad…

The young designer- Charlotte Simpson

Charlotte graduated from Northumbria university this year, and her womenswear collection was awarded the Zandra Rhodes catwalk textiles prize at graduate fashion week. We predict big things from this girl…

The sound- Espionage of the Loc

‘A mix of mind-bending funk, rock, reggae face-melting solos, and whatever else you can think of’ or so their Myspace page says, we’re fans of the heartfelt lyrics and up-tempo beats that convey their northern charm. The band released a live album today that is FREE to download! Click here to get your hands on it.

The make-up master- Lauren Luke

Lauren started off by filming make-up tutorials and posting them on youtube. It got her noticed, really noticed, and now she has her own make-up line! Click here to have  a peek…

The face- Georgia Graham

Photos by Alan Turnbull (top) and Matt Simpson (bottom)

This young model has already appeared in mags such as Front, and is lined up for Max Power and FHM this year. We’re sure it’s a face we won’t be forgetting! Cheryl who?

Killing in the Name of… Christmas?- An Update!

Midweek sales have shown that Rage Against the Machine are leaving X Factor winner Joe McElderry trailing behind in the race for Christmas number 1. However that could certainly all change as the CD version of Joe’s ‘The Climb’ hit shops today.

Radio 1 DJ Scott Mills was hurled with abusive texts calling him a ‘puppet’ to Simon Cowell after he played ‘The Climb'; yet he resp0nded by questioning how he could be called a puppet by people who joined a facebook group because someone told them to…  This is getting heated!

Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine has reportedly said that he will donate whatever he earns from the battle to charity. Aww, now that’s what we call Christmas spirit!

We at FashAddict are refraining from pledging our allegiance either side, we think someone should do a Joe/Rage mash-up! But we can’t wait for Sunday to hear the result…
