“These Shoes Rule!”

Here at FashAddict, we adore going on and on about clothes… maybe you’ve noticed? Anyway, we think it’s important to let you know that we’re not completely one sided individuals – we do have other interests too! Like, SHOES!

Okay, really… I am just kidding but, for the purpose of this post, shoes are where it’s at. After all, what could be more enjoyable than a relaxing  Bank Holiday Monday spent doing a spot of shoe shopping?

So, I went down to our lovely Mags & Pye Boutique on Brick Lane (where all shoes are now £25 in the Sale!) to have a little browse, which then turned into a little impromtu fashion shoot with shop manager Paz. How great is his photo, with the Mags & Pye ampersand, above?

Multi-Strap Sandals

I’m loving these Romanesque multi-strap sandals… the hard metal studs bring these ‘Glads’ bang up to date. It’s all about the ‘Hard-Ware’ right now, and we’ll have more on that in a future trend tip!

Also these platform heels, below, are fabulous too… there’s just something a bit Zesty about them, don’t you think?

Okay, well I had best stop banging on about shoes, lest I start sounding like YouTube superstar Kelly, below (listen to her ‘Shoes’ song from about 1 min in!)

Happy Bank Holiday Monday, everyone!

Street Style Sunday

As promised last week, here’s another bevvy of fashion-forward females to inspire you all. Here at FashAddict, we love their comfortable yet expressive ensembles. See you next week for more!

We LOVE it!

Love magazine that is! The chunky glossy is full of fashion & fame with the 2nd isuue named ‘The Young and the Reckless’. It’s a special under 21s edition featuring the coolest ‘kids’ around including, Pixie Geldof, Taylor Momsen, skins star Kaya Scodelario, Kristen Stewart and Hugh Hefner’s handsome sons! Not to mention pages upon pages of fabulous fashion…our favourite being the pictures from the ‘Bloodline’ shoot which focuses on children of the night; ordinary kids living extraordinary lives….check it out!

The other half of the most ridiculously good looking couple in fiction…

On a wander around Chelsea on a sunny Friday afternoon, the cover of Dazed & Confused caught my eye in the window of Borders, the drop dead gorgeous one from Twilight…nope not Robert Pattinson, his co-star Kristen Stewart ; I hadn’t noticed the beauty of this girl before! Maybe it’s just due to my growing obsession with the Twilight books/film but she needs to get as much credit as Pattinson does…and I think thats exactly whats gonna’ happen! I guess we have Dazed to thank for this….

And if that doesn’t make you quite jealous enough, lets remind ourselfs who her ‘on screen’ boyfriend is….

She also has a rather enviable style too …

And last but not least, if your as big a Twilight fan as we are, here is the designer Monique lhuillie’s impression of how Bella’s wedding dress would look…

Pixie Lott’s ‘Boys And Girls’ Style

As we’re sure you’re well aware, us lot here at FashAddict love us a bit of Pixie Lott! So, naturally, we’ve been glued to her new video for ‘Boys And Girls’ – not just because it’s a catchy tune but also because there’s some great style going on.

We heard a rumour that the vid was filmed close to us in the Shoreditch area, and we wouldn’t be surprised since the whole cast of the video look like the East London trendy folk we know and love.

We knew Pixie Lott was a fab fashionista already but in this vid, she really steps it up a notch! She’s even kitted out in a Christopher Kane Monkey Tee, for goodness sake!

Okay, so maybe we can’t all afford a tee from Rihanna’s favourite designer Christopher Kane. But perhaps, in these strapped-for-cash times, we can improvise… a big bit of kitchen foil, scrunch it in the middle, and voila! A big shiny bow!

After all, over-sized accessories are a must! Whether they be Golden Hair Bows or Cups and Saucers. Oooh it’s like an English version of a Dita Von Teese show! Don’t go giving Lady GaGa any ideas, Pixie! You know how she loves a good English Cuppa!

Okay, okay. Enough silliness! Seriously, there are some easy ways to get a bit of Pixie’s ‘Boys And Girls’ style. For example, we’re loving how Pixie has toughened up her look with studded leather jackets (fist pic) and little biker waistcoats. We reckon that Pixie would love this Va Vizuri denim waistcoat (below) with tough square studs available now exclusively in Mags & Pye Boutique (it’ll also be available to buy soon from our FashAddict website).

It’s the little things that make Pixie’s style stand out from the crowd…so if you’re looking to grab just a little bit (not a Lott, groan!) of her look then start with some accessories.  We recommend Barry M Nail Polish (£3)  in Acid Yellow, Bow Tie Ring (£9) from Tatty Devine, Sequined Leopard print pants (£25) from Topshop and Studded Heels (£25) from Mags & Pye Boutique.

Cheers for all the style ideas, Pixie! Looking forward to your next video for more!

Undercover: The Evolution of Underwear the current exhibition on at the Fashion & Textile museum until September 27. It takes us through a journey of our under-garments; from shape definers to fashion must-haves and how they have evolved alongside the changes in society over the years. There are some very important pieces on show including ones from Christian Dior, Elle Macpherson, Wonderbra, La Perla, M&S, Triumph, an original Merry Widow corset, a gown made entirely by bras and briefs and a swarovski encrusted La Perla bra! Ladies it’s time to celebrate those curves ( without sounding too much like Gok Wan here…) and head down to the Fashion & Textile museum for a ‘sneaky peak’ !

‘We’ve just been Ranked’….

Just back from a trip round the corner to the Old Truman Brewery to check out Rankin Live. WOW….I can’t believe I didn’t go sooner but how glad am I that I went?! If you have not seen it for yourselves yet …I suggest you must! Rankin is very well known for his raw edge to photography, whether its fashion or a portrait each picture is full of personality and life, no matter what the subject is, Rankin captures the essence perfectly. He captures a wide variety of people through his lens including the Queen, Debbie Harry, Britney Spears, his wife & son, Courtney Love and his favourites Kate Moss and Heidi Klum to name a few. We love Rankin!

The exhibition is at The Printspace on Kingsland Road with photography shown from their 2009 Vice photo issue, it’s definately a must see if you have time between now and mid-week!

Bumping into the Bubble

Susie BubbleThere are so, so many great things about living near Brick Lane; there’s a thriving cultural community to immerse yourself in, an ever-changing graffiti landscape, twenty four hour bagels and, of course, all those retro stores and wonderful boutiques!

The thing that really makes Brick Lane a bit of a gem, however, is it’s vibrant Sunday Market….. And a visit to that market suddenly gets a damn site more exciting when you wake up, check twitter and realise that fashion blogger extra-ordinare, Susie Bubble, will be spending her day there in a temporary role of market stall holder!

Susie had broken the news on her blog just the day before, demurely telling her readers that she was selling off the ‘shit-pit’ of her wardrobe (which apparently contained a Viktor & Rolf dress and Eley Kishimoto shoes!!!). I’m crap at catching up with blogs at the weekend though, so my heart sank when I woke on the Sunday to get ready for my week-end job, turned on my twitter and saw Susie’s tweet saying; “shit….sale cancelled….council has come in to turf us out….”

Realising what it all meant, and that I’d missed it all, I headed off to work a bit disappointed. But I still kept an eye out. Just in case.

Good job I did, because there was Susie – still going strong on her stall and looking fab as ever. Being now late for work I only had time to say hello and take a quick street-style snap… no time to browse the supposed ‘shit pit’, sadly, as I’m sure there were some great pieces in there. One gal’s trash is another gals treasure, after all!

Susie was very sweet and happy enough to be papped and have a chat with a star-struck fan. Yep, I was a little nervous and star-struck – what can I say? I love her blog ! But it’s so embarrassing to get nervous around people you admire, isn’t it? I remember meeting Vivienne Westwood when I was 17 and I just turned into a complete gibbering wreck. I think I said something super-intelligent and insightful , like “Your work is amaaaaaziiiing!”

So, despite being worried about scary council men moving her on it appears Susie had a great day of being a market trader. Just don’t give up your day job, Susie, please! Us loyal followers would miss your pearls of fashion wisdom far too much!
